Yes, I know I disappeared. I've been running. I've been traveling. And I've been dating.
Since I last left you, I've completed two half-marathons. I know I said never, but on August 11, I jumped into the Georgetown to Idaho Springs race at the very last minute. The race benefits the high school sports teams - and I love the cause and the fact the kids staff the aid stations. Throughout the race, I stayed with a friend and she and I had a great time. I beat last year's time by a smidge, but more importantly, had fun! And guess what? No IT band issues. I believe the GTIS curse is officially over. I did crop the above photo because the heel striking was horrible! I couldn't bare to look at it anymore!
A group of us ventured to Vail on August 19, where we did the Diva Half Marathon. It involved all sorts of girlie things - which was in direct contrast with an event that finished that same day - the Leadville 100! While the Diva didn't have any belt buckles, it had pink boas, tiaras, champagne, flowers and cute firemen! Yes, I did get my picture taken with Ryan Sutter. Still waiting on a copy so I can share it with you! We had a whole lot of fun - maybe by embracing the Pink Diamond cocktail as pre-race fuel the evening before and I might have enjoyed a red velvet cupcake for my pre-race breakfast. While far from great pre-race fuel, I found the perfect race course for me - rolling hills - a lot of fun!
So my travels have taken me to New York City and northern New Jersey, a tour through Rocky Mountain National Park (first time) and Lake Granby, and Casper Wyoming. I'm looking forward to a little time at home. And I've been on a couple of dates. Two with a really nice man...I try not to hold the fact that he is an attorney against him...and he does the same.
Next up - a 20 miler training run on Saturday. Send me your good vibes please!
